Active Fx – CO2 Laser – ActiveFX is a low-density fractional resurfacing procedure ideal for fine lines, uneven pigment, and collagen stimulation. Most patients achieve remarkable results and typically experience only 4-7 days healing time – in essence a long weekend. For those men and women with more significant skin damage, and who opt for a longer healing period, there’s MaxFX™, a higher-density procedure that offers profound results for deeper wrinkles and acne scarring where damage has occurred beneath the uppermost layer of skin. As an added benefit, both procedures stimulate of the formation of new, underlying collagen.2 New collagen formation means better support for the skin, as well as continued improvement in skin texture for up to six months after treatment.click for PDF ActiveFX produces a dramatic effect on the skin:
What is DeepFX?
DeepFX is a revolutionary fractional laser technology for aged, sun-damaged or scarred skin. The low-downtime procedure uses fractional CO2 laser microbeams to precisely target the deep dermal layers of the skin. This stimulates a cascade of healing responses that leads to tissue regeneration and new collagen formation throughout the entire treatment area. And because only a fraction of the skin is actually touched by the laser, healing time can be limited to just a few days.
How does DeepFX work?
DeepFX procedures involve treating only a fraction of the skin’s surface, leaving bridges of untouched skin to aid in the regeneration process. Each laser pulse removes a narrow colum of tissue while simultaneously treating surrounding skin. This deep heating causes immediate collagen contraction and long-term collage remodeling. The result is softening and smoothing of wrinkles and scars, and improved skin texture.
What is a DeepFX treatment like?
DeepFX is typically performed in a physician’s office and lasts for about 20 minutes. Our Doctors will use an anesthetic cream prior to treatment to aid with comfort. As the microbeams are applied, you will feel a warm sensation at the treatment area. Immediately following the treatment, your skin will feel warm and will be similar in appearance to a deep sunburn. Over the next several days you will follow a gentle washing and moisturizing regimen, and avoid direct exposure to sunlight. As you skin heals, it will begin to flake and you will notice improvement in your wrinkles, fine lines and scars.
DeepFX produces a dramatic effect on the skin:
- Improves wrinkles, scars and folds
- Noticeably improves skin tone and texture
- Stimulates new collagen formation and plumps the skin.
- You will notice immediate softening of wrinkles, fine lines and scars as the skin heals from the treatment. In addition, the skin responds by stimulating organic growth of new collagen that continues for up to six months. Results of the treatment are long-lasting and with proper skin care can last for many years.
Where can DeepFX be used?
DeepFX is commonly used on the face, around the lips, for crows feet, the neck, upper chest, hands and arms.
What is ActiveFX?
A high-energy beam of laser light interacts with the skin’s surface causing the upper layer to peel off and regenerate a layer of new, healthy skin. The laser beam is applied in a fractional pattern, leaving small “bridges” of untouched skin. This technique makes the healing process much faster and enables you to get back to normal activities sooner.
Enjoy freedom from embarrassing underarm sweat
Are you bothered by your underarm sweat? Do you frequently apply antiperspirant? Are you frustrated over constantly ruining clothes? Are you worried about underarm sweat outbreaks?
Now, there is a lasting solution that can make embarrassing sweat a thing of the past.
Take control of your life with miraDry® – a non-invasive solution that provides lasting results
The miraDry procedure is quick and non-invasive. The miraDry System delivers precisely controlled energy to the region where the underarm sweat glands reside, and eliminates the sweat glands non-invasively. Because the sweat glands do not come back or regenerate after treatment, the results are lasting. And, results are fast – you can expect to see sweat reduction immediately after treatment, with minimal to no downtime.
Dramatic sweat reduction without the use of harsh chemicals, toxins or surgery
The miraDry procedure uses the only non-invasive technology that is FDA cleared and clinically proven to dramatically reduce sweat and provide lasting results. Now there is a lasting solution to sweat control that doesn’t use harsh chemicals, toxins or surgery.
Advantages of the miraDry® procedure
- Lasting results
- Dramatic reduction
- Immediate results
- Minimal to no downtime
- Quick in-office procedure
What is the miraDry® procedure?
The miraDry procedure is quick, non-invasive and provides a lasting solution for excessive underarm sweat. The handpiece from the miraDry System, when placed on the underarm, delivers precisely controlled energy to the region where the sweat glands reside and eliminates sweat glands non-invasively. The sweat glands don’t grow back once eliminated, resulting in a dramatic and lasting reduction of underarm sweat.
What is the procedure like?
The procedure involves no surgical incisions or cuts. The clinician customizes treatment for each underarm area with multiple placements of the miraDry handpiece. Local anesthesia is administered to the underarms prior to the procedure to maintain comfort. Your office visit appointment will generally last about an hour. Two procedures spaced three months apart are required to maximize the results and duration.
What happens after the procedure?
There is minimal to no downtime following the procedure. Your doctor will likely recommend a mild over-the-counter pain medication and use of ice packs for a few days. You should be able to return to normal activities or work right after the procedure, and you can typically resume exercise within several days. Some localized soreness or swelling is normal, and typically clears within a few weeks. Some patients have short-term altered sensation in the skin of their underarms or upper arms, which gradually disappears.
What results can I expect?
Most patients report a dramatic reduction of their sweat – in a recent clinical study1, the average sweat reduction was 82%. You should see a reduction in sweat immediately after treatment. As with any medical procedure, results will vary by person.
How long will the results last?
The results are lasting because the sweat glands do not come back or regenerate after they have been eliminated. The miraDry procedure uses a safe, non-invasive technology that is FDA cleared to eliminate sweat glands in the underarm.
Don’t I need my underarm sweat glands?
Your body contains over 4 million sweat glands, with only about 2% located in the underarms. Eliminating this 2% will not affect the body’s ability to cool itself.
How is the miraDry procedure different from other treatment options?
Other treatment options are designed to temporarily disable the sweat glands, or involve surgery which contains inherent risks. Only the miraDry procedure provides a lasting solution with a non-invasive treatment.
Is the miraDry procedure right for me?
If embarrassing underarm sweat outbreaks, stained clothing or frequent antiperspirant application interfere with your daily life, then you may be a good candidate for the miraDry procedure.
Spots and Tatoos
Our Alex TriVantage® laser represents the latest advancements in the removal of tattoos, freckles, age spots, lentigines, Nevus of Ota, Café-au-Lait and more. Using laser technology, Alex TriVantage works to target and eliminate spots and tattoo ink wherever it’s found. The treatment delivers dramatic results safely and effectively for a range of skin types.
- Removal of unwanted tattoos—even multicolored inks
- Clearer skin, free of sun spots, age spots and freckles
- Treatment that’s safe and effective across a range of skin types
What does the Alex TriVantage treatment feel like?
During your first visit, your skin’s reaction to the laser will be tested to determine the most effective treatment. Laser energy is delivered through a small handpiece. The Alex TriVantage is less painful than other treatment options. The degree of discomfort varies with each person, depending on his or her pain threshold. Most patients do not require pain management. In some cases, depending on the nature and location of the tattoo or spot, your practitioner may elect to some form of topical anesthetic.
What precautions should I take throughout this process?
Immediately following treatment, cold or cool compresses may be applied to soothe the treated area. A topical antibiotic ointment may be recommended. In the first few days, take care to avoid scrubbing the area or using abrasive skin cleansers. A non-stick dressing may help prevent abrasion, and sun block that has been approved by your practitioner may also be recommended.
How many Alex TriVantage treatments will I require?
The effectiveness of the laser depends on the age, location, depth and type of tattoo or spot, as well as the composition of the spot. Smaller tattoos and spots will require fewer laser pulses, while larger ones will require more. All tattoos will require additional treatments for optimal results.
Are Alex TriVantage treatments safe, and are there any side effects?
Alex TriVantage treatments selectively treat the tattoo or spot while leaving surrounding skin undamaged, making it safer than non-laser options. After treatments, patients will experience temporary discoloration or reddening of the skin around the treatment site. Some patients may also experience a temporary lightening or darkening of the skin for a few months following treatment. The skin will typically resolve to normal pigmentation color. It is important to follow your practitioner’s recommendations for proper post-treatment skin care.
Are Alex TriVantage treatments covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures such as tattoo removal.
Fraxel® Laser Treatment is designed to target aging and damaged skin by creating microscopic “wounds” within the targeted areas that penetrate well beneath the skin’s outermost layer. Fraxel® is a proven laser technology that can help reverse the visible effects of aging, naturally helping you look as young as you feel. With Fraxel, change isn’t drastic or scary – it’s you, just younger.
Fraxel is effective on:
- Fine lines and wrinkles – like crow’s feet and brow lines
- Surface scarring – erasing effects of acne and other scarring
- Pigmentation – minimizing the appearance of age spots
- Sun damage – helping heal dangerous skin damage
- Actinic Keratosis (AK) – a common pre-cancerous skin condition
How does the laser treatment work?
The laser creates a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat. Candela’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™) technology protects the upper layers of your skin with a cooling burst of cryogen. Together, the long-pulse laser and DCD cooling offer optimal treatment with minimal side effects.
What can I expect during treatment?
Treatment will take place in your practitioner’s office. You will wear safety eyewear to protect your eyes from the laser light. Your practitioner will guide the laser to the treatment areas with a small handheld probe. Each laser pulse may be preceded and followed by a short pulse of cooling spray. A treatment could take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the area and condition being treated.
Does it hurt?
Some patients may feel a slight discomfort with the laser pulse, sometimes described as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort is minimized by Candela’s DCD cooling. For some patients, a topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment. Be sure to discuss this with your practitioner.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the treatment you require and the condition of your skin. For hair removal, most people require at least 2 to 3 treatments, as the process is only effective when the hair follicle is in its active growth phase. Other conditions may clear in as few as one treatment, but many factors impact the efficacy of individual laser treatments, including the severity of the condition being treated.
How do I prepare for treatment?
Patients scheduled for hair removal should avoid electrolysis or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. If you have had a history of perioral herpes and are scheduled for facial hair treatment, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed. Also, any hair should be shaved, and your skin should be thoroughly cleaned and dried, removing any makeup, cream, or oils on its surface before laser treatment.
What can I expect after treatment?
Patients should avoid sun exposure before and after treatment, and should apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) when going outdoors.
Are there side effects?
Your risks are minimal. Side effects may include purpura (a laser bruise), redness, blistering, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, and swelling in the treated area—these usually do not last more than a few days. Permanent side effects, such as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation or scarring, are rare.
What precautions should I take after treatment?
After laser treatment, avoid sun exposure. In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Your practitioner may advise additional precautions.
Are these treatments covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures. Some carriers will, however, cover the treatment of disfiguring birthmarks such as hemangiomas. Consult your insurance carrier for conclusive information.
How often should I be treated?
Treatment times vary for each product. Restylane injectable gel has been clinically proven to provide results that last up to 18 months, with only one follow-up treatment at either 4.5 or nine months. Your healthcare professional can work with you to help you establish your Restylane Regimen. Perlane injectable gel results may last up to six months after a single treatment.
When will I see results?
Results can be seen immediately following your treatment!
The Excimer laser is designed to provide effective relief from unsightly and sometimes painful psoriatic skin lesions. The Excimer laser can also help with Vitiligo. Some procedures are covered by your insurance.
This treatment eliminates and reduces unwanted spider veins on the legs. Our physicians will inject a solution (generally a salt solution) directly into the vein. The solution causes the vein to swell, scar and collapse. Over time, the vein turns into scar tissue and eventually fades. This procedure can eliminate the need for more invasive surgical procedures.
Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin which is typically performed on the face, neck or hands. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to “blister” and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled and less discolored than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun. Peels can also be used to treat acne.
